A cool breeze kept flowing with fresh moist air, threatening full scale rain, but what came eventually was snow pellets which bounced off the professor’s body. Christine would probably have been fine, thought the professor. She could tolerate some moisture, but a full-scale driving rain would cause her to shut down until she had dried up in the sun. That would have been difficult for Arthur because they could have been stuck on the mountain overnight as she would have been too heavy for him to carry back down the slope. And then there was the slight risk that water could have fried some computer chips inside her body that would have been catastrophic causing the need for her to go back to Japan for repairs. Christine knows enough to seek shelter down at the camp which she should be able to do in the community kitchen area where she can plug herself in. The operations manual said Christine should never be left alone in the hands of others, but he felt she should be fine since he was only planning to be away for three hours at the most.
Being in the wilderness, Arthur was surprised to notice so much wildlife in a valley on the way to the top, including: some deer, what looked like an elk, and a pack of wolves. He even saw in the distance a cougar, and what looked to be a bear! He was again glad to not have brought Christine in case they got too close to these animals, not knowing for sure what would happen with her in that situation. There was nothing about this in the manual for what you could do and not do with an iPerson if you wanted to venture off into the open country without borders. As for having Christine ride a horse, he never thought about that before and he doubted that she could, unless programmed and tested.
At one point when the professor was looking around and the terrain was quite narrow and steep, he almost fell off his horse as he had to grab hard onto the horse’s mane with his one hand to steady himself. He then sprained his wrist a bit from the jolt it took while the horse was trying to step over a boulder. He realized that if he had fallen, he could have gotten seriously hurt, such as breaking a leg or his head! Once they got close to the top of the mountain with such a panoramic view as they were breaking through cloud cover where the guru could be found, the final one hundred steps needed to be done on foot due to the steep elevation gain. This was quite obvious to Arthur when Ben stopped the horses on a plateau at the face of a cliff.
“Go ahead and make the final climb around that edge to the top and I will wait here so we can return back to base camp once you are finished your visit.”
“So bizarre, this whole thing. It would have been so much easier to have the guru come down to the camp to meet with us there,” muttered the professor, rubbing his wrist. He dismounted his horse and handed the reins over to Ben without saying thankyou, and then started his climb to the top.
Far from being the smartest biological species, we are probably better thought of as being the stupidest possible capable of starting a technological civilization – Nick Bostrom
The slope and elevation gain was about all that the professor could handle as he was not in the best of shape. He also knew he was not in the best of mood since some things were not going the way he expected or wanted them to. He was glad to see a weather beaten old man at the summit above cloud level who looked to be in a meditative state, with a white beard and cane sitting cross legged. The professor was panting and needing to catch his breath as he sat down on a smooth rock which must have been used by many other guests. The guru opened his eyes to lock into his new visitor and client once he was settled. The professor started the chat once his breathing had settled into a normal rhythmic pattern.
“Hello! I don’t know if you realize how significant it is for my iPerson and I to be here today, but unfortunately you were not willing to come down the mountain to meet us at base camp despite our email to the Navajo settlement and the reservation made. She was unable to come up here. As a professor of a renowned university in the field of anthropology, I am not getting as much respect on this trip as expected. This would have been very much a historical day having a guru with all of his knowledge and wisdom meeting up with my iPerson.”
What exactly is an iPerson?”
The professor sighed heavily and really wanted to roll his eyes over that question, but chose to hold back from showing his disappointment and remain professional as he would with university students who were naïve. The guru was going to be his student, so it seemed.
“I figured you never knew anything about an iPerson with artificial intelligence. There is no way that you can, living high up in the mountains for some bizarre reason as you cannot keep up to date with what is going on in this world, unless you get this information from God. Our civilization is transforming into a technological society. And yet you call yourself a guru, which suggests to me you know everything.”
“An iPerson does not belong to God and was not created by God, but by humanity to be used by a tool for your civilization.”
“True. So, you are saying that God does not know anything about an iPerson?”
“God is well aware of what civilization has done and also will assist with its development when asked to help, just as long as what is being asked is aligned with the Universe, and therefore based on loving principles. I do not necessarily need to be aware of current events or the latest in technology, for the role I am playing as a guru, for it can be irrelevant.”
“Irrelevant? Really?”
“I do not need to know exactly what the iPerson is capable of doing in order to be effective and valuable as a guru.”
“My iPerson that I bought named Christine has so much intelligence that you can hardly tell the difference between who is real and who is not. She recognizes people by their face and can adapt her personality to be the most compatible. She looks human, is vibrant, lively, spirited, and engaging, has very solid communication skills, and is smarter than you probably can be because she has access to all of the intelligence that mankind has generated with Open AI. Like the horse got replaced by the tractor a few years ago, your days as a guru will likely be ending soon.
“I question saying your iPerson is vibrant, lively, spirited, and engaging, as if it was alive.”
“Okay, wrong term, perhaps, but she can effectively engage in intelligent conversation. There has got to be a growing gap of knowledge between you and me when you live here and I in the city. We are fairly close to being of the same age and of the same generation, but the fact that I am relating constantly to university students with new ideas during the week and I have an iPerson shows I am keeping up with the times, whereas you are not able to keep up living in isolation. There is like this generation gap evolving between us.”
“That’s the wrong use of this expression, but I understand what you are saying. Generation gaps are caused by changes made in our opinions, values, and behaviours between older and younger generations. The evolution of your civilization brought on these changes. What I represent and stand for remain stable and are not going out with the times. The basics of life, the Laws of the Universe, and our relationship with God are not evolving and have had no impact on our changing values, behavior, or opinions. Therefore, generation gaps are not caused by changes to spiritual love, which is the driving force of our existence. “
Arthur was in a bit of an attack mode that he can get to at times if things are not going the way he wants them to. He did not want to leave Christine behind either, and he was not necessarily getting the response he was hoping for from the guru. The feeling of failure for his mission was in the air.
“Why could you not come off this mountain? Are you an apostle or an oracle or something such that you are under direct order to not leave your post? How close is your connection with God, anyways?”
" Why should I give you priority when there is so much demand of others who have serious personal problems? Coming down the mountain to meet up with your iPerson would take away three or four visits by others needing my assistance.”
The guru continued on:
“I am not an apostle and never claimed to be one. I can be called a disciple of God directly, a follower of how He wants us to live our life. People seek direction from someone who communicates with the Divine, or have faith in an apostle from the past for messages delivered. An apostle is a disciple, but a disciple is not necessarily an apostle. As a disciple, I still receive thoughts from our collective consciousness, which is part of the Holy Spirit. But so can everyone else if they only tried hard enough.
“As for being an oracle, I do not claim to be one. The definition of an oracle is a person believed to speak for a deity or provide wise, authoritative, or prophetic advice. This more or less sums me up, but I came around to doing this on my own, as I do not feel that I have been officially anointed by God. Anyone is capable of doing what I am doing if having the right frame of mind and the right set of strengths and skillset.”
“Are you by chance a disciple of a religious leader then, or do you consider yourself to be one?”
“I am not a member of any religion and I do not want to be known as a religious leader. There is no need for a religion when we step away from society and get back to the basics of life and improve our spiritual awareness. People like to believe in someone as it is their nature and because of that some have been fooled and misled, and therefore, not every follower is of the right mindset. Having a spiritual leader can be good if they are guided towards the “light” and become more aware of how powerful they can become when making use of the spiritual resources that are available to them.”
Arthur was still feeling frustrated and is by nature stubborn and he was perhaps a bit taken back from what he was hearing.
“I am just giving you a wakeup call. Regardless of what you are saying, why would someone want to talk to a feeble old man, because after all, we are not getting any younger, and who is not with the times living in the mountains when there is a strong, bright, modern, and attractive iPerson to interact with who is so incredibly sharp with answers? Those seeking answers would not have to climb this bloody mountain and come out into the wilderness as the humanoid would be so readily available in a much more convenient location. A person does not even need an iPerson other than for the novelty as anyone could simply go online and ask Open AI for answers to anything. This is a no brainer."
The guru thought he was being very rude and trying to set himself up as a “mister know it all.” He was considering the guru to not be at his peak for performance anymore, which was probably true, but not the attitude the guru wanted to live his remaining days thinking about. He had to contain his anger that he thought he no longer had, as the professor was showing no respect for him, whether justified or not. Most people who come to visit the guru are younger and in awe of him, but not the professor. He paused for a few moments to gain his composure. Due to mood swing, the guru realized his response might sway from being as professional as normally expected.
"I am very surprised as a university professor you had to ask me that question about my usefulness, let alone your opinion on my health, because, surely, you know what you say is not true, as you have your PhD in anthropology. For you to suggest fault or weakness in others in your tone of voice tells me that you need to search within yourself as to what is really going on with you. Speak for yourself when it comes to being old and feeble, as I have no problem trekking up to the top of this summit, whereas you found yourself gasping for air. I am concluding your students would no longer be as attracted to you if it was not for Christine. Take her out of the equation and where does that leave you?”
Arthur chose to avoid answering that question as he detected the guru was a bit upset and he did not want to revisit that part of his life again when he was alone. He chose instead to keep pressing the guru with questions in order to gain reassurance of his credibility:
“So, you knew I was taking Christine into classes with me?”
“Your questioning means my instincts were correct and maybe this was not something you were planning to share with me. I reached this conclusion when you had brought her to the Navajo settlement for some show and tell and how important it was for me to interact with the iPerson. You are acting like a narcissist, needing attention, being in the spotlight that I am sure was gained when you brought her onto campus with you. You are also wanting to promote and defend the integrity of your iPerson. Why did you really need to come here and visit if not for this when I showed no interest in coming down to ground level?”
“I wanted you to see for yourself what she was capable of doing, yes for some show and tell. I get it. I was also hoping to get your endorsement of her capabilities and legitimacy so I could take this information back to the media and government officials. The media might then want to interview you for your interaction with her. I have learned from this experience and glad now she did not come up here as I guess the next generation of iPerson has to be more resilient yet to be able to perform satisfactorily, regardless of weather elements, with little to no internet signal, and with no electricity. She would also potentially need to fend off some wild animals roaming around this area.”
“In this mountain range, we live in harmony with the environment, not in a ‘civilized society,’ where animals feel there is no threat imposed by mankind. It was civilization that brought on the wildness.”
“You are kidding me about the animals, correct?”
“No.”
Arthur did not think this was possible based on his life experience, but he chose to not explore the guru’s statement any further since discussion was going off base, like it can in a university class. He needed to discuss what was on his agenda and not expand the scope.
“The next generation of iPerson will only be a few months away and I am sure the day will be soon when the new resilient Christine will come up the mountain with me. Surely you can see where I am coming from, as to her potential?”
"I am sure an iPerson has potential to be of valuable service and hopefully not be used for malicious intent. It can have wisdom and replace some of what a guru can deliver providing its foundation is built on the core principle that only love is real and the truth. This may not be easy as IPersons have no real feelings and has no character. Love plays such an important part in our existence.”
“She does have character.”
“But it is artificial, not genuine. Your iPerson sees the world differently than we do.”
“Are you not the least bit curious for what she is capable of doing?”
“Oh, for sure, but I have clients coming up to see me daily and I never have needed to leave this mountain range. I am like a last resort for them in making sense of this world if civilization is failing to resolve a problem, or explain why things are the way they are. When it comes to traversing this mountain slope, my clients are willing to do so to break away from their troubles to come into a peaceful, quiet environment, letting the world stop to take a breather and regroup. There is no stress living here as we only have our own rules to follow."
Arthur chose not to respond, only to fill his lungs with some fresh cool mountain air as he gazed out across the panoramic view, with clouds settling around mountain peaks. This was the third time he had been told that his iPerson and the technological revolution was not as important as the mental wellness of mankind and it was finally sinking in. Of course this should be the case, the same way he had to give more attention to his students at his sacrifice of personal time.
“It is true I no longer live in your civilization,” continued the guru, “but I know enough about AI to figure out how an iPerson would fit in and function to be of service. Those who think a humanoid can replace a guru are too shallow in their viewpoint and do not consider the world beyond our overlaying civilization, which is the life that God created.”
“Can you call my iPerson Christine? That’s her name and she has an identity.”
“Why should I bother as she is artificial and not a real person and therefore has no identify in my mind? Asking me to call her Christine suggests that you think she is real and has a soul. When it comes to something generated from AI, there is a saying that if it’s too good to be true, then it probably is not. Only God could allow an iPerson to have a soul. But why would He? There is no need for this as it is a tool used by humanity.
“Some people will only compare themselves against an iPerson based on physical qualities or mental intellect and comprehension, but comparing a next generation robot to a human is like comparing apples to oranges. You are not your body. You are spirit. Your spirit is not in your body but rather your body is used by your spirit. Our body cells are alive and respond to spirit but iPerson cells do not. An iPerson is dead while you are alive. An iPerson can assimilate expression and function but it will have no conscience and therefore will not be able to make use of spiritual resources that are available to us. People were made in the image of God and belong entirely to God, not your civilization. Don’t you ever forget this.
“An iPerson needs an artificial network, whereas, we can make use of our collective consciousness. An iPerson can lose its internet connection, but you cannot lose your connection to your Higher Self, and the Holy Spirit. You can always count on our collective consciousness to be the truth if you are in the right frame of mind, but what you get from AI might not always be the truth. AI is being used now to trick or manipulate people for the selfish interest of a perpetuator. However, being in the right frame of mind should allow God and the Universe to guide your ways to make you not be so receptive to disinformation or misinformation that might cause you to go down the wrong path of activity.
“Any message you receive from your Higher Self will generally be simpler in context than Open AI since answers come in the form of thoughts. Thoughts given are naturally translated into your own language that "hits home" with your conscience, making it easier to understand. Open AI meanwhile comes already worded and it gives more consideration to society's structured rules, which may not be needed. Open AI can be more difficult for you to understand and it opens the door to misinterpretation.
“One of life's miracles is our amazing gift of having five senses to be used to experience this multidimensional world. We take these senses for granted but just think what it would be like to live without some of them. Then you will appreciate them a lot more. A reminder of certain blessings we have in life is good so we can be more thankful for them. Let's review each of these senses comparing what we have versus this iPerson you call Christine. Let's start with vision. How capable is her eyesight?”
“Very good. She can read anything whether that be books, screens, signs, and road markings using optical character recognition. She can drive a vehicle safely."
"On gravel roads?”
“Probably not. I did not want to take a chance when coming here.”
“What if a deer was crossing the road? Would she stop the vehicle?”
“Well, I would need to test her abilities more to make sure she could handle all of the what if scenarios that we do not normally experience in the city. On another front, she can recognize people by their facial features and make out facial expressions.”
“What if a person does not show any emotion?”
“More difficult and may have to rely more on other factors such as tone of voice or what is said, similar to what we do.”
“She can recognize mood with tone of voice?”
Arthur was getting a bit agitated as he was starting to guess answering some of the questioning, as the guru went into more detail.
“I don't know. Maybe not.”
“We can also get a sense that someone is off or not quite right based on feeling or hunch, which is our "sixth sense'. Can she do that?”
“Probably not in the way you are thinking.”
“Can she tell the difference between a cat and a dog, a robin and a pigeon, a dandelion and a thistle?”
“She can be taught these things. She can recognize a dandelion as I showed her what a dandelion looked like.”
“Can she recognize a dandelion without its flower or when it turned to seed?”
“Maybe not. I would need to show her what the leaf or ball of seed looked like.”
“Could she tell what is a dandelion if very old and withered or very young or when it was run over by a vehicle?”
Arthur had a forlorn expression on his face. In the back of his mind, he was feeling dumber and stupid.
“Maybe not as it would not match any picture. The internet usually shows a healthy mature dandelion with a flower. She needs to compare a picture of any object whether living or not to what is in Open AI. The focus of her development was more so with how she could help me out with daily function and live my lifestyle in a city. More programming is needed to retrofit her with expertise...”
“In the basics of life.”
“I guess so. She might not accurately know the difference as well between all animal and plant species. You could teach the iPerson like a child for memory retention.”
“But again, this would be a similar experience as it is for a dandelion?”
“Probably. What I noticed is an iPerson can read and tell the difference between all finer variations in colors beyond the basics such as red, green, yellow, or blue.”
“Can she describe all variations of color?”
“No, because there are an infinite number of color combinations, most that are not named. She is good with traffic lights, even if the color is a bit off from poor quality lighting.”
“She would not know the lighting if covered in snow.”
“Yeah, you are right. I would not want her to drive in winter conditions.”
“She would not drive properly in icy conditions?
“I don't think so. I do not know for sure.”
“Her vision is limited. Agreed?”
“Okay.”
“Now let’s talk about hearing.”
“Okay, now we are into something where she has high quality. Using voice recognition and language translation, her communication skills are almost excellent in any language She can listen to a Spaniard and translate what is said to English and vice versa. She can express in words anything available on Open AI.”
“But she would have difficulty distinguishing different noises outside such as a train, crow, water rushing over rocks, fridge, similar to her deficiencies in eyesight, correct?”
“She could trace a sound and compare against the internet, maybe. This may not work that well. The best way is for the owner to teach her certain sounds like you would a child, for memory retention, but with limitations.”
“Therefore, her hearing is really focused on communication only. Correct?”
“Agreed.”
“Smell?”
“She can detect chemical composition in the air including air pressure and humidity using what is called a ‘sniffer.’”
“But she could not tell what is a pleasant smell like the perfume of a flower versus what is rotten.”
“I would have to educate her what is a pleasant smell. She would not know otherwise.”
“I cannot see an iPerson being able to do much with this sense without extensive programming.”
“It probably is not that practical to configure.”
“Christine has not been gifted with this blessing.”
“Correct.”
“Taste?
“No.”
“Feel?”
“Not really. You can have screens that are sensitive to touch but this is not of much help.”
“Can she tell what is smooth or rough?”
“She would need to be programmed to tell the difference.”
“Can an iPerson know when touched from behind, or feel the sharpness of a thistle?”
“No.”
“My conclusion is your iPerson is not the least bit sensitive to almost everything. The amount of programming needed to get an iPerson to do much with sense recognition for feel, smell, taste and do more with vision and noise beyond cell phone and internet would be astronomical and not practical to develop when humans are already gifted with these blessings. Correct?”
“Okay, agreed. A sense could be configured so an iPerson could perform a certain function if needed but not practical to have an iPerson capable of doing everything that a human can do. I agree. But this does not take away her intelligence.”
“But mainly about your civilization and its rules, standards, and measures. Not about the basics of life. God can guide your ways and manage to keep you safe through the Holy Spirit because you are one of His children, but he cannot keep an iPerson safe as it is not living like an animal or plant. If you pray to God to keep your humanoid safe, you are generally wasting your time. He can alter the fate of an iPerson through external factors such as wind, water, and fire when it gets in the way but He cannot control how individual cells of an iPerson function even if He wanted to as they are not listening to Him and He could not override any action performed by the iPerson.
“An iPerson cannot create a miracle like we can. All of our thoughts manifest to some degree, but a humanoid does not really have any thoughts per se other than giving you ideas to alter your own. An iPerson cannot make a plant grow more quickly by talking to it like we can if the plant can feel the love and encouragement we have for it. We are even more powerful collectively spiritually and can make a more significant difference if we are all thinking the same thing. An iPerson can influence society to change, but they cannot change who we really are and the Laws of the Universe created by God
“Sorry, I seem to have gotten hung up on Christine’s capabilities, but I can see where you are coming from and my thoughts about her replacing you were premature.”
“The shaman might be offended if you suggested to him that he could be replaced, and that as well is not possible, because of basically the same reasons as me. But he would be intrigued to have an iPerson provide answers to strangers coming in for more general civilization related questions. This would give him more freedom to deal with other chores around camp and attending to matters brought to his attention from other members of the settlement. The iPerson could help out on a lot of fronts such as being trained to give recommendations for herbal remedies for those who are sick or injured.
“I do hope I get to see Christine someday, or maybe the next generation who will not be so vulnerable to the current conditions in the country. You seem to be very attached to her. “
“I was actually falling in love with her to the point where there was no turning back. I still could get there, but then we had an incident on the way to the Navajo settlement including a confrontation that I would rather forget about and she turned into a different character with a coarse manly voice. Having her change that way made me remember that she is a programmed mechanical robot. The situation was short lived.”
“Whether she has a soft feminine voice or a coarse manly voice should not make a difference if you truly unconditionally love her even if she was a real human. This tells me that you are not really in love with her because it’s based on condition and you cannot possibly get there if she has no spirit.”
“I want to be in love with her as she is never a source of irritation. After my wife passed away, I became lost. Christine and I never argue. I do respect her opinion but she will not intentionally argue with me once her viewpoint is expressed, and she only expresses her viewpoint if asked. She always wants to be with me and do what I want to do. I never have to negotiate with her. She sacrifices her life to be of service to me.”
"Is that really good? How can you grow as a person if you never have to work on your relationship? You are always controlling her to do what you want so that she adopts your behavior, way of life, and become like you so that you never have to work on your weaknesses. Are you a perfect person?”
"No, of course not. Are you as the guru?”
"Truth be told, in the spiritual realm, we were all created perfect in the eyes of God configured with our own set of weaknesses and strengths. I am not at all perfect in my mind, as I still have weaknesses. This can cause my opinion and viewpoint to lack wisdom but I asked God to correct supplement, replace, or control my thoughts so that any advice I pass on to others is massaged for correctness by a Higher Authority. Maybe you need a partner to help you work on your weaknesses. An iPerson will not know what you need to work on unless told and you probably do not want to tell her.”
"Well, actually I have to some extent as one of my weaknesses as a professor is giving sufficient attention to detail when it comes to routine functions as my mind is on other thoughts all the time and I am very forgetful to complete certain tasks or where I have left my personal belongings. I have talked to her about this."
“True, but only for what weaknesses you already recognize as being a fault. Christine would not have concluded this as she can only execute, whereas your wife figured this out on her own. When you lost her, you became more dysfunctional since she was not there to pick up after you or keep track of what needed to be done. Christine is not helping you learn to become a better person by always giving proper attention to detail because when she is out of commission, you will be lost. One person has to go first in any relationship and the passing away of your wife was a learning experience as you realized how much you relied upon her.”
“At least I will always have Christine. An iPerson does not age like I do.”
“No, but I imagine she will become obsolete eventually, but you will probably have her for as long as you are living in this physical realm if she gives you what you need. However, your spirit will last for eternity. What happens to Christine when you move into the next phase of your existence?”
“My last will and testament has a clause in it as directed by the operations manual provided to notify the monitoring agency so they will switch her off and she then needs to be shipped back to Japan to be reset for the next person wanting to purchase her.”
Rather than learning how to become more independent, you are setting yourself to becoming completely dependent upon Christine the more you delegate to her and the older you get. That is very dangerous. If something were to happen to make her dysfunctional until fixed, this will be like dropping your cell phone in water, but even more so if you have an emotional attachment and highly dependent on her for daily function. You already know as an example that Christine is vulnerable to weather elements, but there could also be other issues coming along such as program bugs.”
“But you do not have a cell phone. How do you know so much living up here?”
“I never had to sell myself as much as I have with you because you are more experienced, of similar age, and have an ego constantly challenging my credibility. I have no cell phone, but based on experience when people come to visit, they find out their cell phone has no internet connection, or the battery needs charging. They get anxious, agitated, and act vulnerable, even losing their composure. Can you buy an iPerson to be more your opposite, such as with different behavioral traits, like being more assertive or passive to encourage you to be more passive or less aggressive?”
“No, not yet. They are passive, unless operating under emergency or combative procedures that they are programmed with, which depends on what they experience in front of them. They come off the assembly line with the same personality based on a standard set of logical reasoning. At least scientists decide what is the best behavior they should normally have, such as not being confrontational, always practicing diplomacy, being loyal, and someone who would never set out to harm you. Christine has been directly programmed with these civilization values such as not to harm humans.”
“Scientists decide as opposed to psychologists?”
“I am sure they consult with experts in that field. Christine was carefully crafted to have a type of personality to conjure certain traits such as being peaceful and loving. She never gets really emotional beyond using words that convey such. She is also capable of recursive self-improvement (RSI), which is a process where she can autonomously make subtle changes to her behavior or make recommendations to the manufacturer for her redesign and optimization. This helps to create successor versions of herself, as she perfects her existence in her world centred around me.”
“Exactly, an isolated existence and not considering society as a whole. She cannot look at the big picture by herself as to how civilization is functioning. Therefore, her evolution is constrained and may not be in the best interest of humanity as a whole. Meanwhile, we can self improve, albeit across generations, based on the manifestation of our thoughts to allow evolution to occur under our control. How do you get Christine to pick up the right values if observing only your behavior in your isolated world with possibly some imperfections? As a professor of anthropology, you must agree with me.”
“True. However, that is where AI comes in that she can access as it considers everyone’s behavior.”
“But only from their viewpoint as civilization globally has imperfections whereas our collective consciousness does not, as only love as the driving force of our existence is retained.”
“Okay, this is news to me. I was warned that we need to remain vigilant that AI does not cross a threshold to allow for runaway evolution, causing a plausible route for super intelligence in the form of fundamentally superior cognition compared to humanity which could end up being quite problematic.”
“Yes. In that case, we will need global cooperation to standardize ethical, societal, and geopolitical values to go along with technological advancement.”
“By getting an iPerson, I thought that I might be helping lead our civilization towards extinction, but I figured as a consumer, this was not my problem as Christine was made available and it was beyond my control. In the meantime, she is filling a void in my life.”
“AI generated super intelligence does not necessarily lead to human extinction unless AI is deliberately used in warfare to destroy the planet. AI could end up controlling end users of technology, but a huge segment of the world’s population, such as myself remains “off grid”, with no connection to digital infrastructure.”
“But it is amazing how she can self improve her intelligence a lot on her own without the aid of a hardware change. Ben’s son Kai was planning to play checkers with her at base camp, but I know for a fact he will not have any hope in hell of beating her regardless of how much experience he has, even though she has never played checkers before, as long as she has internet access. Once she learns how the game is played, she will be unstoppable.”
“Just because an iPerson can do something well does not mean that she has super intelligence. Her playing checkers will be based on the execution of algorithms downloaded, not based on judgement and therefore is not true intelligence. No doubt however that we are introducing new types of dangers that will surface from developing powerful types of technologies. You are taking some risk having Christine to always be who you want her to be.”
“I understand where you are coming from here and when you stated earlier opposites can make the best relationship and I had that experience with my wife already. Now I am more set in my ways nearing retirement. Christine is programmed to be kind and loving to others. I have had absolutely no problem with her stability on this front and therefore she is making this world a better place, thanks to an AI public benefit corporation named Anthropic that was founded with the goal of promoting AI safety.”
“Is she really? Do we really need an iPerson to do the job of humans? If we are in the right frame of mind there should be no need for an iPerson to do what should be our job, to take care of one another for mental wellness and physical health and this planet, as we should be able to adequately perform these duties naturally and subconsciously on our own.
“There is no harm in getting help from an iPerson provided we do not become too careless with our own actions and responsibilities and dependent on them to pick up after us and keep things in order. Parents need to teach their kids how to be responsible but passing on responsibilities to an iPerson is not the same thing. We can become spoiled once we let things slide thinking an iPerson can do our job. You never stop learning just like you are right now about the value of having an effective relationship. You will grow more as a person if your opposite is helping you work on your weaknesses. Don't let Christine stop you from growing as a person and how you best relate to others. In order to remain cognizant, you need to keep your brain active. Don't let her spoil your relationship with God by turning your back from access to the spiritual resources that are available to you.
“How can you really experience the "feeling" of love if you cannot get that emotional attachment?”
All Arthur did was stop in his tracks with his thinking, had no rebuttal, as the guru hit home with him that maybe he had best be careful with his heart and dependency on her. The guru was not finished.
“On a world scale, having iPersons only adds to the complexity of evil vs righteousness since those bent on selfishness and devilish unloving mentality will make use of the latest robotics and Open AI for malicious intent. The real root cause of mankind's problems has to do with our mindset. This can only be fixed if we subconsciously perform the following on a permanent basis:
1. Emanate God's love;
2. Be in the right frame of mind;
3. Keep aligned with our Higher Self;
4. Keep our vibrations high (positive, optimistic);
5. Keep our spiritual heart open.
“We can reach this way of life through faith, focus, discipline, and desire. With this mindset, our base will become solidified with compassion to allow us to most effectively use robot technology for construction and productivity, not destruction and corruption. Once we learn to properly care for one another and the environment, then there should be no need for robot technology to make our society healthier, but only for advancement and evolution.
“You have heard this expression many times before: ‘united we stand, divided we fall’ because it is true. Using competition as a driving force of our existence will only exacerbate those who cross the line and live on the dark side of life. If iPersons are being used as the glue to keep us together as one, competitive forces will always find a way to break that bond and we will fail. We can become immune to many diseases as an example through desire but it will be much harder to eliminate sinful acts if the desire is not there. I am sure Christine is wonderful and there is nothing wrong in that, but you can only take this affection so far. You can have sacrificial agape love that I am sure she gives you as programmed but you cannot have true spiritual love where you can feel your oneness to the point that you can sense what the other person is thinking, or know when they are in trouble.
"Now then, if you were expecting media to interview me based on whatever information you plan to pass onto them, I think you will be quite disappointed."
"How come?"
"There are several reasons. Most coverage from main media comes from the city and there are logistics and expense factors to consider, and hardships that will be experienced hiking up to this mountain range. Some media coverage has occurred in the past and it did not go that well. Television stations are a business and they need to cater to those clients who have the money to keep them healthy financially. There is no money to be made from making me well known and it can cost them if it causes lost advertising revenue doing this. This is because some businesses do not want to promote me, including pharmaceutical companies, professional psychology and psychiatry associations."
"I am surprised that pharmaceutical companies would care about your practice?"
"I do not consider what I am doing as being a practice. As for pharmaceutical companies, I suppose I could persuade clients to undertake other forms of therapy as opposed to prescription drugs. This includes herbal remedies offered by the Navajo settlement. Meanwhile, the associations do not consider my services to be legit. They think I violate their professional code of conduct for a practice because I do not do things their way, following their rules. But truth be told, I live in God's world outside of society and have no rules to follow.”
“I get it. Because you live in the wilderness and not living in our civilization, they think you are living in an uncivilized world.”
“You are correct and that causes negative connotation since I am not going along with what society has to offer. They claim that guru counselling is not a formal, registered degree you can get from a university and therefore I am not considered to be “professional”, even though I have a masters degree in psychology. If I also had a degree in theology, then maybe things would be different. As professionals, they could not do my job as they are lacking their own education especially on spiritual matters. I am not charging for my services in any event and that irks them. All I do is add value for my clients at no cost because that is what God wants me to do.
"The associations will want a representative of theirs to get interviewed by the media, not me, and that could very well come across better with the public at large since they are deemed experts with professional designations and qualifications and most do not know me from Adam. This actually could make a lot of sense for you with your situation since it is the associations who live in your civilization. The interview you want should be with them, not me. Most people have not heard about me or doubt my qualifications since their minds are closed off and they never venture outside their comfort zone. Regardless, I get a steady stream of visitors by word of mouth from the experience gained from their visit.
“You are a professional, a university professor at that. I gave you much more information that I would not under normal circumstances, but we both are into education and of the same generation and we need to take care of and influence positively those who are younger.
“By the way, I am Alex, your neighborhood guru. “
“Thankyou, sir Alex. Most valuable dialogue we shared.”
“You are welcome.”
